Since 1980, Mr. Stone has been the founder and/or partner at the executive level of several energy engineering and management firms on Long Island; his firms have provided full service mechanical and electrical consulting engineering, with special emphasis on energy conservation related engineering services to the utility, public and private sectors. His projects have been implemented in facilities ranging from multi-family residential buildings to frozen food processing plants, ice skating rinks, and supermarkets. Prior to 1980, Mr. Stone worked in the Aerospace industry where he utilized his skills in thermodynamics, heat transfer and equipment design analyses.


Mr. Stone has been involved in facility energy audits, building infrastructure retrofits, computerized energy management systems, boiler facilities, utility sub-metering, and studies for government and energy utilities. He has provided extensive energy contract preparation and implementation development and review in the growing sector of small cogeneration system Energy Purchase Agreements (EPA) in New York City. He was a contributor to the development of some of the first packaged micro-turbine cogeneration systems. To date, Mr. Stone has participated in various capacities for the development and implementation of over 10,000 kW of CHP capacity in New York City and on Long Island. Mr. Stone has been extensively involved in projects implemented through joint effort with utilities and funding through agencies such as NYSERDA.
The International Association of Energy Engineers recognized his extensive and comprehensive experience in the cogeneration, energy conservation and management profession when he was selected as Cogeneration Professional of the Year for the Eastern Region of the Association of Energy engineers and then received the same award internationally.
